Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
1. What is SSNIT Tier 1?
It is a mandatory 5.5% contribution from your gross salary towards your social security pension, capped at a maximum salary of GHS 61,000.
2. How is PAYE calculated in Ghana?
Tax is calculated on your "Taxable Income." This is your Gross Salary minus your SSNIT contribution and any approved tax reliefs.
3. What are Tax Reliefs?
These are legal allowances (like Marriage, Disability, or Aged Dependent relief) that reduce the portion of your income that can be taxed by the GRA.
4. Does this calculator include Tier 2 or Tier 3?
This calculator deducts the 5.5% employee SSNIT (Tier 1). If you contribute to a Tier 3 provident fund, you can enter that amount in the "Reliefs" box to see your exact net pay.
5. Is this updated for the 2026 Budget?
Yes. This tool uses the graduated tax bands and rates officially applicable for the 2026 fiscal year in Ghana.
